Helen is a qualified counsellor with over 11 years experience working in different environments. Helen is also a qualified nurse, working with the NHS for 24 years.
I am registered with the BACP(British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) and the NMC (nursing and midwifery council) working according to their ethical framework.
I have worked within critical care for 20 years and continue to run a clinic offering support to patients/relatives following a period of critical illness, which can often lead to symptoms of trauma.
I have an extensive range of experience working in different settings ( psychology department, GP practice, critical care rehabilitation and hospice care). I work in private practice offering support to children and young people aged 13 years and over, and also adults. I also work as a specialist critical care staff nurse running a clinic offering psychological support to patient’s following a critical illness.
I seek to offer a therapeutic relationship which is ethical, professional and empathic. I work using an Integrative model, incorporating many theoretical approaches, mainly person centred, humanistic and existential. The therapeutic relationship is paramount and I aim to offer a safe, authentic and client centred environment, where individuals feel listened to and understood. Allowing them to find their way forward with any life situation or difficulty they may be experiencing, in a supportive, non judgemental environment.
